Preschool learning app: getting ready for kindergarten and school

In the preschool years, learning happens in play, not at a desk. Minidu brings the core areas of preschool education together in nine modules — from finger-tracing letters to naming feelings, from counting to first English words. This guide explains which skills matter before kindergarten and in the school-readiness year, and how to support them at home.

Before kindergarten (ages 2-4): which skills stand out?

  • Touch and hand-eye coordination: balloon popping, coloring, big puzzles.
  • Listening and following instructions: narrated stories, "listen and find" games.
  • Daily routines: hand washing, tooth brushing, getting dressed, bedtime.
  • Noticing emotions: recognizing happy, sad and angry faces; breathing exercises.
  • First concepts: big-small, inside-outside, colors, shapes.

School readiness (ages 5-6): which skills stand out?

  • Writing letters and numbers: correct stroke direction, lowercase letters, writing their name.
  • Sound awareness and first words: letter-sound matching, syllables, first reading attempts.
  • Number sense: counting to 20, simple addition and subtraction, patterns.
  • Attention and memory: longer rounds, sequence repeat, rule-based games.
  • Social skills: taking turns, playing together, being fine with not winning.

Supporting preschool learning at home

Short and regular: 15-20 minutes of focused play a day beats one long session a week. Minidu's daily time limit exists for exactly this.

At the child's pace: in-app difficulty adjusts to the child's performance through an invisible 100-step level; parents never have to configure anything.

From screen to paper: printable worksheets and certificates reinforce what was learned by hand.

In four languages: Turkish, English, German and Arabic interface; children growing up abroad keep their mother tongue while picking up a second language.

Frequently asked questions

Which curriculum is it based on?

Activities are planned and tagged against the Turkish MOE preschool curriculum, CEFR Pre-A1 and Montessori learning areas. This is our own mapping, not an outside endorsement or certification.

How does a child who can't read use it?

Every instruction is spoken; the guide character Dudu narrates each activity. Menus are navigated by icon and color.

What's in the free version?

Sample activities from every module, unlimited play time and every accessibility feature are free. Minidu Plus unlocks all activities with a free 7-day trial.
